From the recording Songs of Sligo

Christmas time ... when the whole town is lit up and all shop displays brighten up the streets. Christmas is first about the birth of Christ and the mystery of nativity - but the tradition of festivity makes the time special when it is shared and enjoyed by the local community - irrespective of religious affiliation - and each small town has its own Christmas uniqueness and so does Sligo.

Lyrics

From Ballymote to Mullaghmore
The snowflakes fall to the valley floor
Old cousins call to the family for
Christmastime back in Sligo

Christmas in Beautiful
Magical Sligo
There's nowhere on earth that I'd rather go
Choirs are singing
The tinsel's aglow
Christmas is here
Peace and joy to all A ring-a-ling-a-ring-a-rong
Everybody sing it strong In the green Northwest where I'm from
A ring-a-ling-a-ring-a-rong
Everybody sing along
Merry Christmas to everyone
It's Christmastime in Sligo town to Ballymote and Castleconnor
They come from Mullaghmore and around for a cal' at Granny's door

Red cheeks and mitts and woolly hats The fields are white
The Guinness black It looks like lovers may never lack A white Christmas and mistletoes

Christmas in Sligo
With Father Pat at St Anne's everyone singing 'O Come All Ye Faithful'
On 27th down at Crozon they're all loving and bassful
Santa wonderin' had he too much Nesquik in
'Don If I Could Play Football'

Sea of Bot lights in Donovan's shop Bourbon messed
in the Bourbon Bar Jingle bellers on the Long Walk Wending home to get Yule logs and cakes

Above there are stairways made of stars
The smell of cake and turkey from afar
Santa's on Main Street and in the square
